"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." I agree wholeheartedly that it is the dedication of a lifetime that defines true patriotism.  You all have given not only your time, dedication and effort, but—most importantly—your very being to the protection and advancement of this great country. You work tirelessly for the rights of the veterans who serve our country, while conducting the nation’s finest civic training to instill young future leaders with the knowledge, understanding and wisdom to govern this country.
     
 
   
 

VFW Scout of the Year 2017-18

 
 

     Annually, the Veterans of Foreign Wars awards three individuals who are: Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, Venture Summit Award recipients and/or Sea Scout Quartermasters who have risen above their peers in exemplifying the qualities of that rank, awards are as follows: $5,000 1st place scholarship - $3,000 2nd place scholarship - $1,000 3rd place scholarship.

     To qualify for the award, the candidate must:  1.  Be a registered active member of a Boy or Girl Scout Troop, Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship.  2. Be the recipient of the Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scouts Gold Award, Venture Summit Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award.  3. Have demonstrated exemplary citizenship in school, Scouting and community.  4.  Have reached his or her 15th birthday and be enrolled in high school at the time of selection. 

     Deadline for entry to a VFW Post in March 1st 2018.
