Charlotte Hall Veterans Home


Charlotte Hall Veterans Home is situated on 126 beautiful acres in Saint Mary's County, and officers a continuum of care from the 168-bed skilled nursing program.  Charlotte Hall veterans home also offers memory care in secured units.  The Home is Medicare / Medicaid certified, and all veterans receive a per diem subsidy from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that reduces their cost of care.  The Home is inspected annually as required by the Office of Health Care Quality, Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 Our vision is to continually develop and deliver a safe, dignified and compassionate health care system, and proved a nurturing and engaging home environment for Maryland's veterans and eligible spouses.

 Who is eligible for admission?

     *  Honorable discharge - Maryland veterans who served active duty.
     *  Current Maryland resident or Maryland is listed s home of record on their discharge paper (DD-214)
     *  62+ years of age, otherwise must be 70% or greater service connected
disability or Social Security disabled
     *  Eligible spouses must meet veteran eligibility requirements
 Assistance with cost of care:
     *  The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides a per diem per day to 
help with the cost of care
     *  $103.61 per day for nursing home care = a $3,108.30 per month savings
to the veteran
     *  $44.72 per day for assisted living care = $1,341.60 per month savings to
the veteran
     *  A VPI - 70% or greater service connected veteran may be entitled to the
full cost of nursing home care
Assisted Living  -  cost of care:
     *  Cost is calculated at 90% of the veterans monthly net income
Nursing Home  -  cost of care: 
     *  Cost is based on the veterans personal resources, long term insurance,
Medicare or Medicaid 
Nursing Home and Assisted Living cost includes: 
     *  Room board, nursing and physician care, meals, laundry services (Nursing
Home), phone, cable, haircuts, transportation to D.C. V.A. Medical Center for
medical care, personal care / toiletry items and incontinent supplies
     *  A non-veteran's spouse is required to pay the full cost of care in assisted
living and nursing home care
On-Site medical services include: 
     *  Attending physicians, nurse practitioners, dental, optometry, podiatry,
pharmacy, physical occupation and speech therapy.
