Bruce Edwards
Sr. Vice Commander - Navy

Bruce Edwards was elected Senior Vice Commander of the Department of Maryland on 30 May 2024. Bruce served in the United States Navy (4 Years) from 1990 to 1994 serving as a radio on USS Peleliu LHA-5. He earned his VFW eligibility by serving in Iraq. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asian Service Medal with Bronze Star, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Commanding Officer’s Certificate of Commendation and Commanding Officer’s letter of Appreciation.
 
Bruce joined the VFW in 1995 at 6027 in North East MD after his return from Iraq, he transferred in 1996 to Post 8185 in Port Deposit MD and now is at 6027 in North East MD where he maintains his Silver Legacy Life membership. He has served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, District, and Department levels, culminating in earning All-American as a Post and District Commander.
 
Bruce, his wife Jenny and son Dylan reside in Perryville, MD
