Joe Cicchillo
State Commander - Army

Joseph Cicchillo was elected Commander of the Department of Maryland on 30 May
2024. Joe served in the United States Army (20 Years) from 1997 to 2017 serving as
MOS 68W (Medic). He earned his VFW eligibility by serving in Iraq. In recognition of his
service, he received the Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army
Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National
Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non-Commissioned Professional
Development Ribbon, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Field
Medical Badge, and the Army Recruiter Identification Badge.
 
Joe joined the VFW in 2007 at Post 352 in Mililani, Hawaii after his return from Iraq, he
transferred to Post 1936, Hagerstown, MD where he maintains his Bronze Legacy Life
membership. He has served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, District, and
Department levels, culminating in earning All-American as a Post and District
Commander. On the Department level, he served as the Committee Chair Voice of
Democracy and Patriot Pens. Joe attended Post University where he received his
bachelor’s in business administration.
 
Joe, his wife Cindy and son Nicholas reside in Williamsport, MD.
